How Kāinga Began
Kia ora, I’m Bronnie Bell, the Creator of Kāinga Streetwear.
After spending years living in the UK and Europe, I realised how much wearing Māori-inspired clothing helped me feel connected to New Zealand. It sparked conversations, curiosity, and a sense of pride in where I came from.
Finding those kinds of tees overseas wasn’t always easy. Whenever I returned home to New Zealand, I’d stock up to take them back with me. Otherwise, it meant asking Mum to send something over, or simply going without.
Kāinga grew from that experience.
Kāinga means “home” in te reo Māori, and it became the perfect name for a brand built around identity, belonging, and connection to Aotearoa.
Today, Kāinga is created in South Auckland for anyone with a genuine connection to New Zealand, wherever in the world they may be.
